 Agenda

PaCIE will hold its annual conference in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Sessions and workshops are based around the theme of Developing a Global Agenda for the Commonwealth: Business, Education and Technology.   Meet friends and colleagues from across the state to discuss how the state is moving forward in international initiatives that benefit the entire commonwealth.  In addition to workshops, sessions, and poster presentations, the schedule will allow time for participants to network with colleagues from around the state.

 

Workshops

Thursday, September 30, from 1-5pm:

Finding the Money!!!! Navigating Scholarships & Grants –   CIBERS

An Overview of Scholarships – where to find them, application guidance, and fellowship opportunities.  An overview of identifying different types of grants:  state, federal and private foundations.  Presenters will guide participants from inception to startup.

Standards of Good Practice in Education Abroad: The Forum on Education Abroad

The workshop provides an overview of and training in the use of the Forum’s Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad, the Code of Ethics for Education Abroad, and the Standards of Good practice for Short-Term Education Abroad Programs.  The workshop is ideally suited both for those unfamiliar with these documents, as well as for colleagues who want to delve more deeply into how to use them for program development, assessment and improvement. Workshop activities include analyses of case studies that teach participants how to use these resources to assess education abroad programs.

                 

Teachers Without Borders – Africa

This workshop will take place at the University of Scranton, 5th Floor Brennan Hall.

Early Registration (by August 31):    $175 members/$250 non-members

Regular Registration (deadline September 24):   $200 members/$275 not members/$50 students

Workshops:   $60 members/$120 nonmembers/$30 students

Discount for Multiple Workshops:   Participate in the pre-conference workshop, the post-conference workshop, and the conference for the special early rate of:   $270 members/$450 non-members

In addition to the conference, the City of Scranton will host its monthly First Friday Arts Walk throughout the downtown area on Friday night, October 1.  Enjoy an evening of local artists displaying their works in galleries, shops and other locations within walking distance of the conference hotel.
